A history of breast cancer usually means that they are carriers of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 recessive mutation. It?s a mutation in genes responsible for chromosomal recombination in the event of double stranded breaks. If she does not have any signs of cancer, there?s no reason to have it removed, mostly because it?s possible that she might not have even gotten the mutant BRCA1/2 alleles. Have her keep a close watch and note any changes in appearance or any lumps.

Based on this information alone? No.
Breast cancer is rarely hereditary only about 5% are. Of these 25-30% are BRCA1 or 2 positive. If either her mom or aunt was 50 or over when they were diagnosed with breast cancer there is zero reason to think it could be hereditary.
Having two first or second degree relatives with breast cancer does increase your risk of getting it, but so does being postmenopausal, having your first child over the age of 30 and starting your periods before you were 12.
What she should do is talk to her doctor about her concerns and start screening exams when she is 10 years younger than her mother was when she was diagnosed.
