the *Home* &, well, the *Improvement* in Home Improvement || DIY ...

The problem that the majority of DIY enthusiasts face is that they neglect planning before they start a project. This means they end up doing a lot of things off the cuff and as they go along.

If you try to complete a DIY project like this, then you?ll often end up with problems in the long term. This is a sure fire way to ruin a project and maybe even lose a lot of money.

This tip is priceless. Once you have your project in mind, write it all out stage by stage. By putting down everything in writing, you will know exactly what you will be doing.

This means you can easily figure out what tools you need, what materials you will need and also how much time you will need. This will prevent you from forgetting anything or leaving anything out.

- Time Needed

Another big problem people have is that they do not allow themselves enough time to complete their job. A lot of people will give themselves two weeks to complete a job that requires two months; this usually ends up in abandoning or rushing the job.

The simple way to prevent bad time-budgeting is to be realistic, or even excessive in your estimates. Don?t be na?ve and think you can squeeze a job into a few weeks when you know deep down you can?t. If you think you can complete a job in a month, give yourself an extra week or two. You never know what is around the corner.

- Budgeting and Costs

This is another major stumbling block, but this problem can all but be eradicated if you write your project out (as suggested above). But even if you write everything out and note everything you?ll need, you might still run into extra costs that you didn?t plan for.

You should only ever start a project if you have enough money for all the tools and materials you need, plus a little extra. It is recommended to add an extra 10% on top of your budget, just in case of hiccups.

- Extra Man Power

No DIYer can do it all by themselves.? If you have a project that requires extra people then ask friends and family, don?t try to do it yourself and risk injuring yourself. Get in touch with people you know and organize days ahead of time.

Also, if you have a job that requires electrical work, plumbing, etc, always hire a professional.? This is a legal requirement in most cases anyway. But above all else, it is not safe to attempt something that you are not qualified to do.
