Windows 8 Desktop Editions Upgrade/Downgrade Tool

?

There are a few?scenarios that may require you to change from one Windows 8 desktop edition to another. The available Windows 8?desktop editions include?Core, Pro and Enterprise.?As long as you have a?valid license key that covers the edtion that you want to shift to, then this tool may help you out. It looks like I?ll be giving it a try once my new hardware arrives, since I still can?t seem to get access to the Windows 8 Pro source bits.

The arrival of my new Dell precision laptop, with?Windows 7 Pro installed,?has been delayed due to a backlog in customs. While I wait, I?ve been looking for my own workaround to the Windows 8 download issue that I posted the other day. I was able to locate?Windows 8 Enterprise source files, but I want to install it on my personal laptop. In order to make the install legitimate, I need to use?the Windows 8 Pro key that I?recently?purchased. It looks like this tool?called UpDown8?will allow me to achieve my goal. UpDown8?is supposed to perform?all of the required registry?changes and then you must rerun the Windows 8 installation setup. During the setup process a valid license key will be requested.

Warning: I highly recommend?trying this tool in the lab first. I?ve never tried UpDown8 before so I can?t speak for the results that may occur.
