It seems more and more developers are turning to the App Store to provide music junkies with new ways to find their next favorite bands. The latest offering in that vein is Campout, an app designed to allow users to stream music from Bandcamp, an online service in which bands post and sell their music. Most of those hands offer free samples of their music on their Bandcamp websites, and Campout allows you to play those samples over an Internet connection.
Campout will bring you music from bands that are trending on Bandcamp, or pull up something at random for you to check out. You can favorite bands so you can buy their tracks later, or just listen away to something like 100,000 tracks available on the site. The app also works over both Wi-Fi and 3G Internet connections.
Zeppelin Air makes it easy to stream music from one iOS device to another, or to other enabled devices, using the iOS Airplay featured released in iOS 4.3. The app provides an interface to allow you to send music from your phone to your computer, your computer to a Zeppelin Air device, or between any other device using Apple?s software.
If you have a Zeppelin Air, you can use it with the app at parties and other gatherings to allow anyone in the room to contribute music to a live ?social playlist,? but if not, you can still stream music to other devices. The app also gives you full control of the tracks from your phone, so you can adjust volume or change tracks on the fly from across the room using your local Wi-Fi network.
The biggest football franchise in video games is back on mobile devices with Madden NFL 12, which has been optimized for the iPad 2 but still handles well on the iPhone. Standby features like the game?s standard football team gameplay, exhibitions, season play and full 32-team NFL rosters are back this year, along with new game modes to give you even more football action.
Madden NFL 12 now also includes features from the console version of the series, including ?Total Defensive Control,? ?Hot Routes Everywhere? and ?Action Control Time? to give you better control of the game and your players on the field. If you were a fan of Madden NFL 11, you?ll have a good time here ? Electronic Arts has improved the graphics and the gameplay while adding a few new tricks.
SPY mouse (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
You?ll need to be sneaky to get good scores in SPY mouse, a stealth game that?s in which you try to guide a mouse through various buildings to gather cheese while avoiding patrolling enemies such as cats. The game is played much like developer Firemint?s other title, Flight Control, in that you draw the mouse?s path before him and watch him follow it. You?ll need to slip past enemies (or lure them away while heading off in another direction) and accomplish specific tasks like making a cat crash into a wall or only drawing a single path to get top scores in each level.
Your speed, cunning and efficiency all play into how well you score in SPY mouse, and each level has three specific ribbons you can attain or doing particularly well. The game includes more than 70 levels across six worlds and packs a number of achievements to earn along the way as well.
